On this site, MCP refers to the Model Context Protocol — an open standard for connecting AI assistants to external tools and data sources, introduced by Anthropic in November 2024 and now governed by the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation.

MCP was created by Anthropic and open-sourced in November 2024. In December 2025, governance transferred to the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation, co-founded by Anthropic, Block, and OpenAI. Google, Microsoft, AWS, and Cloudflare participate as members.

Microsoft Certified Professional (not related)
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) was a certification program run by Microsoft for IT professionals demonstrating competency with Microsoft products and technologies. The program was retired and replaced by role-based certifications. MCP Verdict has no connection to Microsoft or its certification programs.
